Designed for the adventurer who seeks the ultimate Alaskan river experience, The Devil’s Canyon enclosed riverboat tour travels 130 miles roundtrip down the Susitna River through Denali State Park and into the rarely visited National Wild River Park of Devil’s Gorge. As your skipper leads the boat through thickly forested shorelines, bask in the raw beauty of Alaska. Traveling further into the remote wilderness, you’ll have many opportunities to view nesting eagles, beaver activity, moose and salmon and you may be able to see a black bear or grizzly roaming the shore. And ever present, of course, is the unimaginable splendor of Denali Park and the Alaska Range.
Your first stop ashore includes a wilderness site where you will visit an authentic trapper’s cabin filled with rustic furnishings, see how early settlers lived in the “bush,“ and also view raw furs while learning the methods of trapping. Then you’ll visit a recreated village of the Dena’ina Indians, the area’s original inhabitants, and learn how they lived and survived. Naturalists will acquaint you with the wildflowers and plants that grow in abundance along the river system and you will learn about the edible plants that were used by the Native Indians for cooking and for medicinal purposes. The day ends as it began on a Princess coach to your Princess wilderness Lodge. A boxed lunch is included in this five-hour adventure.
Wir sind frueh gestartet und ich musste als erstes meinen Shuttlebus erreichen. Nachdem diese Huerde genommen war, hiess es eine Stunde bis nach Talkeetna fahren. Dort war gleich neben dem Parkpunkt von Princess das Café Mahays Jet Boat Adventures. Von dort ging es mit dem Bus zum Anlegeplatz des Jetboots.
Wir konnten gleich drauf und starteten auch gleich. Der erste Punkt, den wir sahen, war der Delani. Wunderschoen anzusehen. Alle zueckten ihre Kameras und wir konnten vorn aufs Boot drauf. Dann ging es weiter und alle spannenden Stellen wurde angehalten. Es wurde uns noch einiges zu den einzelnen Sehenswuerdigkeiten der Gegend gesagt und auch verschiedene Baeume gezeigt. Auch die verschiedenen Lachsarten in Alaska wurden uns erklaert. Waehrend des Ausfluges sahen wir einen Weisskopfadler, der leider zu weit weg war, Lachse, welche natuerlich unter Wasser waren und ein kleiner Braunbaer, der total suess war, aber leider viel zu schnell verschwand. Insgesamt war der Teufelscanon total beeindruckend. zwischendurch hatte ich Angst, dass das Boot doch noch an einem Felsen zerschellt. Aber es ging alles gut. Ein wunderbarer Ausflug.
